30 Dec Ventura to San Diego, Celebrations with Friends and Family
On November 23, we made our way to the Channel Islands Yacht Club. We felt comfortable leaving the boat there and rented a car to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with sister Jean and her family. We had a lovely dinner at Ryan and Lissa’s (I was able to give the babe in the womb a little suggestion that December 9 would be a good day to be born!) After dinner, we drove up to Jean & John’s home in the desert and had a great breakfast at their golf club the next morning.
By November 26, we had moved to Marina Del Rey and spent a couple fancy nights at the Del Rey Yacht Club. So fun to have Jean, John, Nikki & Teddy down for a Sunday brunch. On the 29th we arrived at the King Harbor Yacht club after a beautiful sail, Yea!!! It was fun to see the Yacht Club where our old neighbors Bob & Eva Brehm are members and to see Bob’s picture on the wall as a past Commodore! One evening we had dinner with old Park City friends, Pam, Tom and Henry Bakaly.
On December 2 we were in San Pedro and tied up to the guest dock at Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club. We enjoyed spending time with Hugo, and friends Ralph and Tricia Johns from s/v Toga, who hosted us for the lovely dinner in their home and included us in the Hurricane Gulch Yacht Club evening. Very enjoyable to watch the Parade of Lights from Hugo’s dock.
Our next stop was Two Harbors, (Mooring C11) at Catalina Island. We enjoyed our visit and spent some time on land, hiking and exploring the area. On December 6 we arrived in Oceanside Harbor, and were greeted on the dock by Joe with the Oceanside Yacht Club. Cousin Jocko came down for a quick visit and to check out the ride. Jane Fox whisked me away to the grocery store and we had a simple dinner that evening with Jane and Greg!
On December 7 we docked at Marina Village Marina and Conference Center in Mission Bay!!!! It felt really delightful to be in San Diego and know that we would be in the area for a while.
So exciting when Ruth (my high school bestie) & husband Ray Sullivan arrived from Chicago to celebrate my birthday! On December 9, we had a fun little party on the boat, as Ned, Leah and the almost 1 year old, Oliver Peek came down to celebrate with us. Oh yea, I received a great gift, my grandnephew Oliver Dale was born on my birthday. The next day, Jane and Greg came down for a day sail. We had a good time until it got a little rough, sorry Ruth & Ray!!!
The final month of 2016 went by quickly as we continued preparing the boat for our journey to Baja and the Sea of Cortez! We enjoyed spending time with friends and family while in the San Diego area.
